my nephew Dane was perhaps four years old
when I observed this at the family Christmas gathering.
He was trying to make something happen with a new toy.
I was in the next room, watching him through a doorway.
He looked around to see if there was someone who could help, but didn’t see anybody, so he continued to try, and finally,
he got it to work.
Have you ever parallel parked so nicely that you looked around
to see if anyone saw you do it? Dane looked around
to see if anyone had noticed his success- but he didn’t see anyone.
So he put his little hands in the air and said
Yay me!
Good for you, little dude, I thought,
and I took a lesson from what I’d seen.
Dane’s now choosing colleges, but I still tell this story
and encourage us all to celebrate our successes.
This is my yay me page...
