Glass Bead Making: Basic Lampwork An introduction to working glass by melting it above the flame of a torch and winding it on steel rods to form beads. Over 50% of the beads produced in Europe for centuries were made in this way by cottage industry workers. The techniques are not difficult and are fascinating. Buttons, pendants, and marbles are possible too! Make exactly the beads you want for particular projects: color, shape, size, design and decoration all under your control. Great fun. 3-4 hours $60/person all materials included.

Intermediate/Advances classes for students with some experience.

Also: Lampworking with Sheet Glass: tricks for using flat glass in your lampwork. Many colors and styles (especially marbled and opalescent) are available in stained glass sheet that are not represented in the Moretti rods. But sheet can be tricky and requires a couple specific skills. Get a handle on those skills at this workshop and expand your palette. Some lampwork experience expected; see note above. Bring your own torch setup and tools; all glass is included. $45/person

NOTE: Forestheart Studio carries a full line of glass beadmaking supplies.

Raku Beadmaking Using small kilns that plug into regular household current and special raku clays, make ancient looking, mysteriously metallic beads. 2 sessions 2 hrs. each. $60/person, materials inc.
